Acceptance of power of attorneys directly prepared or approved by the competent authority of a foreign country is not possible in Turkey unless they are approved by the Turkish consul or political officials in that foreign country. Power of attorneys prepared directly by the competent authority of a foreign country must be approved by the Turkish Consulate and political officials in that foreign country. The ratification note is called ‘Apostille Convention'.

    Power of attorneys to be issued for divorce, alimony, recognition and exequatur suits should include special power and photograph. Power of attorneys to be issued for divorce and alimony suits should be had issued in two copies.

According to article 89 of 1512 numbered Notary Public Law, contracts and power of attorneys, wills, conditional sales, real property sale declarations, settlement deeds, marriage settlements, adoptions and recognitions, inheritance partition contract and procedures which necessitate carrying out procedures at real estate registration office in terms of their peculiarity and of which preparation are ex officio envisioned in other laws should be made in "arrangement" form. The procedure in the form of arrangement is prepared according to the situation and wish of the related person by the consul personally in form of a written report. Therefore, the procedures (work papers) can only be prepared upon the application of the related person personally to the Turkish Consulate together with his/her identity card, valid passport and two newly taken passport photos.
